Aligning your mind, body and spirit are essential in order to have a balanced life. Having a balanced life is the difference between reacting to life to owning your life! I believe in this triad because I feel it is all of these aspects of a person that show up to every area of our life. Therefore, having them healthy and high-functioning is pretty vital!

I also feel these aspects of ourselves need to be worked on in this order – mind, body, and spirit – which I explained in my first blog. Your mind sets the stage for the type of life you will have. If you have negative, unproductive thoughts you are more likely to live a negative, unproductive life. If you have positive, optimistic, productive thoughts you are more likely to have a positive, productive, and joyful life with much to be grateful for.

Let’s First Plant Your Garden

I compare working on your mind as getting the soil ready to plant a garden. If you want to plant a healthy, productive garden, you first till the soil, remove any large obstacles such as rocks or old weeds, add a compost to richen the soil, and maybe lay a barrier down so it is harder for weeds to grow through. Now you can then plant your vegetables and then water them every single day. If you don’t do any of these things, you will not have a successful garden. Both your time and money will have been wasted. The very same is true when improving or enhancing certain aspects of your life.

If you have been on this journey since the beginning, you know the first topic was “7 Steps to Mind Your Mind” which was intended to ready your soil (your mindset), showing you different tips and tricks and proven tactics to create a positive and productive mindset. With a positive mindset you are now ready to state a goal that will move you forward in life and build confidence in yourself once you reach it. With “My Goal Smashing Worksheet” you are now ready to successfully reach this goal because you know how to incorporate both your subconscious mind and your conscious mind for success. Having a written goal, and something that you will review often and have measurable milestones towards your success, will keep you focused and moving forward.

Now it is time to train your brain to be impenetrable

This is building that muscle inside your mind to remind you that there is nothing that is out of your reach. If you see someone else crushing it, rather than being envious, remind yourself that you can have that too!

You know how movies (and hopefully real life!) show a parent, grandparent, or other mentor figure in a young person’s life telling them they can accomplish anything they set their mind to? In theory, it always sounds wonderful, but only a small percentage of people believe it and act on it. Now, if you are five feet tall and have a dream of being a forward on a basketball team with the most rebounds, you may very well always have an uphill battle to climb. Not that you can’t do it, but you will need to become a very scrappy player to get a lot of rebounds, because due to the laws of gravity, a six-foot player may have a greater natural ability to get more rebounds than you.

However, for most things in life, that inspirational advice can be true. You want to be a firefighter, do it. You want to be a teacher, do it. You want to start your own business, do it. It all boils down to the faith you have in yourself and a true inner knowledge of your capabilities.

Even if you don’t have a loving grandmother to tell you that you can be, do, have, and give anything you want in this life, YOU need to know that. There is very little that any of us can’t achieve as long as we have the belief, a plan, and work on it every day. As stated previously, everything starts in our mind. If we can’t see it, we can’t have it.

How do you do it?

The accompanying worksheet, “Four Easy Yet Effective Ways to Strengthen Your Mind“◄ (FREE download!) will help guide you and includes:

  1. Identify Your Ideal Impenetrable Self
  2. Developing Self-Confidence
  3. Turning Your DNA to PMA (Positive Mental Attitude)
  4. Showing Gratitude

Much like if you wanted to create a lean, muscular body, you would eat well and you would lift weights. Eating well cleanses your body and nourishes it for health. Lifting weights is a repetitive practice that, over time, builds a strong muscle.

The same is true for your mind. Eating well is equivalent to having much more positive thoughts than negative; having a hopeful and optimistic attitude; and having a curious outlook. Lifting weights is equivalent to developing daily habits that strengthen your mind for positivity and joy, remembering that what you focus on is what you see.

One of the reasons why we started in week one with identifying your “lifetime achievement script” and week two with identifying one goal you want to achieve, is to build confidence in yourself. A great way to build self-confidence is to have trust in yourself. Trust in yourself that you will state what you will do and then you do it. By doing this you know you can trust yourself. The word trust is in the definition of confidence: “true to your word, do what you say you will; the feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something; firm trust.”

Another important step is to change your DNA to PMA (positive mental attitude). There are many ways to do that, but they all boil down to rewiring your mindset to one of being positive and productive in thought. Remember, you are building a mindset muscles and doing these things every day is equivalent to going to the gym every day. Much like you would do with a weight-lifting program, as you get strong at a certain weight, you naturally increase the weights to keep building muscle. The same is true with this work.

The last step is to live in gratitude. This is finding things to be thankful for every single day. When you do this the Universe gives you much more to be thankful for. Think about yourself and your actions for a minute. Aren’t you a little kinder and more generous to those individuals who appreciate you and your actions and say thank you? The Universe is no different. Also, when we condition our minds to see beauty everywhere that is what we see. Rather than seeing a field of dandelions and considering them weeds, we see a field of blowing wishes. Rather than seeing the storm cloud roll in, we anxiously await being able to see the rainbow.

The beautiful thing about the mindset muscle is that it can never get too big! So, grab your free download now and starting building your mind muscle today! Also, check out my YouTube video on this same topic!

Let’s go from reacting to life to owning life!

This is the path you are on with me right now. For the next few months I will be doing a deep dive on a person’s mind, body, and spirit because having them all in alignment is essential for a balanced life. Having a balanced life is the start of owning your life! The schedule for this 3-part series is that the 2nd and 4th Friday of every month I will share a blog, a YouTube video, and a free download on the topic. January and February will be dedicated to mind, March and April to Body, and May and June to Spirit.

Stick around for this very fun, productive, and informative ride.

Please share this information with others who you feel could benefit, and who you may want to have as an accountability partner as you do the work together.

Thank you and Enjoy!
